I have been reading a lot about the new food labelling systems promoted by UK Department of Health. There are a lot of comments against this regulation because, it’s possible that interests of food like EVOO can be damaged. You can read more info followig this link
I think this rule or a similar one, was taken to the European Parlament in order to help consumers to choose the best option when they are deciding between food they are going to eat.
Last time I have heard about this, an Spanish journalist named Jordi Evole, was showing people the way how Alimentary Lobby worked around the European Union Parlamentaries so as not to vote this traffic light option and finally they approved a rule much more complicated to read by consumers.

At this point, I only want to say that, I agree with anyone who think about health of people, a vast and huge epidemy of obesity is crossing Europe from north to the south and things like that who showed us give me the real quality of our politics.
All initiatives used to help citizens in order to improve their (our) level of health will be welcomed.
But in the other side, I need to say that, first place must be reserved to education.
Must be clear that this traffic light system it’s valid for the main of food, near the 99%, specially all the prepared, threated, pre-cooked meals and food where you can find the most of the sources of the obesity problems I said prior.

As I said above, whereas consumers have information in their hands :no problem.
Our body needs fats to survive, not a big quantitie, but needs them. In this case, all fats you can find in the supermarket will have the red colour, due to it have near 100% fats, fats are fats (scorpion is scorpion ).
By comparing oils in the market:
Summarizing , if you need to include fats in your diary diet, it’s better for you to choose healthy fats, in the case of EVOO you must take it as a mere fruit juice (using it with moderation).
Talking about the result of traffic lights related food, I think the most of super-food will be forbidden, nuts, almonds, chocolat, red wine, etc etc.
What can we do?, personally I will wait to see the result, but I’m sure that if people have the information, if people like you and me and if all people who appreciate these food disclose to their environment the benefits of including these super-food in their diet, both, products and producers, and consumers will benefit greatly.
