This first episode is called Oleoturism in Jaen, and info is provided by Olive Oil and Olive Grove interpretation center, or, Centro de Interpretacion del Olivar y el Aceite de la comarca de la loma en Ubeda (JAEN).
It’s difficult to explain Jaen’s history and its current reality, without taking into account the role of Olive Oil and Olive tree.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil is culture.
Years ago, Jaen was known by its high level of production in quantity terms, but today, quantity and quality are reaching the same level. Several top level Olive Oil brands were born in Jaen, getting lots of awards, and providing awesome Extra Virgin Olive Oils.
At the beginning they were only private brands, but day by day, some cooperatives are working in the same direction, obtaining very positive results.

OleoTourism has become a new success tourism schema, which is demanded by travelers, who wish to discover routes full of special and different sensations.
It’s a real trend near to be a boom to live cultural and gastronomic experiences around the virgin extra olive oil world.
In our province there are magical places to enjoy and blow your mind through your senses. Landscapes, buildings and charming places where you can learn more about Olive Culture, and why not?,spend a few days away from the dynamic world, applying slow lifestyle.
There isn’t an established real Olive Oil Culture yet , and from Oil and Olive Grove Interpretation center,we want to boost it. There are still many people who visit the center who still think that elderly Olive Oils (mild and intense, 0,4-1º ) are the high quality ones, because big brands have taken care of establish that with huge advertisement campaigns.
I think many years ago, should have made great information campaigns, from the public and private sectors, simple for the consumer, to explain the different denominations of olive oils and confusing concepts, like explaining the healthful properties of the extra virgin olive oil over other vegetable fats.
I am talking about a divulgation, learning and enjoying place around Olive Oil culture. An outstanding experience that lets visitors to get a real approach to our milenary culture and the real and magic life of Extra Virgin Olive Oil areas.
Renascement, Ubeda, Olive Oil and videotapes
The center is placed in the historical and dinamical city of Ubeda, declarated in 2003 as Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, being more accurate, it’s placed in the middle of this historical and incredible area, which is known as a jewel into the Andalousian Renascement.
A really interesting mixture, Renascement and OleoTourism, it sounds great isn’t it?
Placed in a beautiful XVII century building named “Casa de la Tercia”, we mix present and future, in the probabibly more amazing bet in Oleo Tourism in Spain, sincerely, great.
The Center offers both guided tours and free, for individuals and groups of any kind or origin. Also guided tours in English and French. An exciting entrance to olive oil world handed by specialist travel guides.
In your visit, you will enjoy an interactive and modern space where through audiovisual panels , you will learn all you need to know about Extra Virgin Olive Oil: history, Oil production, olive varieties, food and cooking, Olive Oil uses, health benefits, etc etc.
In the courtyard of the museum, there is a space dedicated to the history, an exhibition of lifestyle, machinery and olive tree utensils and tools related to olive cultivation and production of extra virgin olive oil, since antiquity, where you will meet the traditional Extra Virgin Olive Oil development process
